Archive-It has entered into an agreement with Reed Tech, which which will enable our service to significantly (and quickly) expand so we can continue to meet the needs of our growing partner base. Starting with 5.0 development, we’ll be able to hire additional staff, acquire more infrastructure and overhaul the service based on our users’ feedback. We’ll also be able to delve into new areas of web archiving and digital content management where previously we have not had the resources to do so.
As Archive-It has grown, so has the volume of organizations that contact us daily to learn more about the service. Reed Tech’s experienced team will help us market and connect to new partners, enabling us to expand to communities and organizations in need of a web archiving solution. We have done our due diligence and have been impressed with Reed Tech’s excellent record of customer focus and service.
Little else will change. The Archive-It service will just get better with more resources invested in it. Archive-It will remain an affordable and non-profit service option for our partners, built on open source tools with great technical support and assistance. Our partner organizations’ data will continue to be stored and accessible from our home at the Internet Archive, with multiple options available for organizations to receive a copy of their archived content.
